About Jane

Jane is passionate about teaching, learning, health, wellness and personal development. She has worked in health care for almost 30 years as a nurse, lecturer and supervisor in professional practice and academia. A personal yoga practice supported Jane through Master’s and Doctoral studies in adult education and ultimately led her to teach yoga, pilates, therapeutic movement and yoga therapy in a way that embraces adult learning and personal growth.
Jane has studied yoga with esteemed teachers such as Donna Farhi, Lisa Petersen, Neal Goshal, Leila Stuart, Karla Brodie, John Ogilvie, Peter Clifford, Swami Layananda Saraswati,  and the iRest institute and is passionate about self learning and development in yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, mindfulness and yoga therapy
Jane is currently working and studying with Vincent Boletta of Hansa Yoga and yoga therapist Leila Stuart to consolidate and expand knowledge and practice in therapeutic yoga. 
 
Jane has also studied pilates and movement therapies such as Hanna Somatics and Franklin method with Polestar NZ, Tania Huddart, Lisa Petersen, Morten Dithmer and local mentors Abbey Parsons & Melanie Orr.
 
Jane has a particular interest in spinal health, pelvic balance, fluidity & stability in movement and yoga therapy.

Private yoga & movement therapy
Working one to one with private clients enables a deeper exploration of the benefits of yoga, pilates, therapeutic movement and meditation for the individual
Single or regular sessions can help to guide personal practice in movement, identifying and addressing imbalances, breath techniques, relaxation and restoration

  • Monday 11 am – 4 pm
  • Tuesday 8 am – 7 pm
  • Wednesday 8 am – 6 pm
  • Thursday 10 am – 4 pm
  • Friday 8 am – 5 pm
  • Saturday 8 am – 1 pm by arrangement only

Private sessions are generally an hour to enable individual assessment, practice and personal home practice / exercise plan development (as required)

Workshops

Generally one or two workshops are integrated into each term & will be advertised here.

Shakti mat pilates @ Movementor Pilates

This class will introduce simple movements and breathing techniques that can be practiced when using a Shakti acupressure mat. It is not absolutely necessary to have pilates experience to join – all welcome

 

Yoga Nidra @ The Yoga Place

This 1 hour class provides personal time and space for you to be guided through relaxation pranayama (breath work) and yoga nidra (deep guided meditation) to create a state of deep relaxation that will restore and renew
